Tikar (Bamun) masks
The Tikar people reside in south west Cameroon.(Grassland region) They speak different languages but claim common ancestors.
Their area is divided into two geographical sub-groups. The first includes village dwelling people whose artistic output is associated with bronze pipes.
The second group occupies the northwest highlands and is known for carving masks.
The artistic production of these people is closely associated with royal and societal ceremonies.
The Masks are usually worn during state ceremonies or annual festivities.
