Fetish - Bakongo animal figure

The diviner or fetishist is feared and respected amongst his tribe as the one who mediates between the forces of evil and the members of his tribe. This spiritual figure is an important healer and comforter and plays a significant role in related ceremonies and rituals. The nails pierced into the figure were from tribe members committing to fulfil their vows and actions.
