Bamileke stool - beaded

Beaded art from the Cameroon Grasslands were traditionally the property of the kings, and their stools were by far their most valuable pieces. Animal (especially the powerful leopard) and human forms are common motifs. This stool is an old piece and has been well used as the pictures show. It has been made from a heavy wood which is uncommon in more contemporary pieces and has been repaired by the villagers over time.
